So I’ve been training for about two months now and I am starting to see results! I’m so happy- I love watching my muscles form and feeling stronger. I’m also feeling better about myself after I had gained weight last summer/winter. My weight has always been up and down, but whenever I gain weight I really feel sad about it. While my focus is mainly on health rather than on weight loss, I do feel better about myself when I am thinner. I agree that it’s important to not obsess about weight & not get depressed when you gain weight, however, it’s also important to feel comfortable in your skin.
Step away from the scale! That number does NOT determine your worth. Rather than focusing on that number, look at yourself in the mirror- Do you like what you see? Do your clothes fit? Do you feel healthy & energized? Last year I weighed in at 117 pounds and I was super happy & really confident. I loved being at that weight and felt amazing. I started gaining weight in the summer and by Christmas time was at 140. I really did let that number on the scale get to me. I felt completely miserable and unhappy and lost all my confidence. None of my clothes fit anymore (and those size 2’s still do not fit and I doubt they ever will again), and I was having a meltdown almost every morning, but now my weight is at 135 and I actually feel good about it! The shape of my body has been changing as I gain muscle mass (I actually have an ass now!) so I know I probably won’t be able to get back into my old clothes- but I’m okay with that. I feel stronger and more proud of my body now and I’m excited to continue watching it change & become even stronger! Remember- love your body & it will love you back 😉
