Halloween is almost here! If you want to give out treats that aren’t junk this year (because let’s face it, you know you’re going to end up eating most of the candy yourself), than you’re in luck because I’ve compiled a list of healthier alternatives to the conventional candies that are so delicious kids are sure to love them!

More people are becoming aware of the effects of food on our health and the organic movement is growing more and more each day. On top of that, food allergies are on the rise. Most of the treats on this list are allergen-friendly so no kid will have to feel left out on Halloween when they come to your house!

  1. Sun Cups Dark Chocolate Sunflower Butter Cups:  Sun Cups are basically Reese’s made with sunflower butter rather than peanut butter. Unlike Reeses, Sun Cups are also soy-free, GMO-free, and sustainable. With peanut allergies being so common these days, Sun Cups are perfect to give out so that kids with peanut allergies don’t feel like they’re missing out! Sun Cups are insanely delicious, there’s a reason they’re number one on the list 😉

2. Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups:  Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups are a healthier alternative to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. While Justin’s still contains soy (which I recommend avoiding), they’re organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, and sustainable.

3. Stretch Island All-Natural Autumn Apple Fruit Strips:  Stretch Island fruit snacks are a healthier alternative to fruit roll-ups. They have no added sugar, they’re non-GMO, and have no artificial flavors, preservatives or food dyes. The apple flavor is perfect for the fall season.

4. Stretch Island All Natural Fruit Strips:  You could also get a variety pack so kids have more flavors to choose from. Flavors include: Autumn Apple, Abundant Apricot, Orchard Cherry, Harvest Grape, Ripened Raspberry, and Summer Strawberry.

5. Larabars:  Larabars are date-based treats. Most of the flavors are paleo-friendly and all are gluten-free. larabar variety pack

6. YumEarth Organic Lollipops:  Kids love sucking on lollipops! These lollipops are a much better alternative than most lollipops you’ll find at the supermarket full of artificial flavors and colorings. No Halloween candy bag is complete without some lollipops!

7. Torie and Howard Organic Hard Candy: These organic candies are made for Halloween! They’re GMO-free, have no preservatives, artificial flavors, or colors.

8. YumEarth Organic Pops and Drops Sampler: These organic candies come in a variety of flavors that kids will love. There’s no artificial flavors or colors and they’re also vegan friendly.

9. Candy Tree Gluten Free Raspberry Twists: These raspberry twists do contain (organic) corn syrup. While I recommend avoiding corn syrup, I think this is a better option than conventional candy. Compare these to Twizzlers and I’d choose these. They’re organic and gluten-free. While I don’t like that they say “no added sugar” on the package when the first ingredient is corn syrup (false advertising much?!), I still think they’re better than Twizzler’s to give out on Halloween.

10. Or, instead of giving candy, you could give out coloring books, stickers, pencils, spider rings, bouncy balls, bookmarks, etc. spider rings
