Jill

Jill McEvoy is a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. She spent years smoking cigarettes, eating fast foods, processed foods, and every man-made food imaginable. This lifestyle was accompanied by pretty severe IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome), and acne. While getting her BS in Criminal Justice, she learned about the paleo diet and discovered the power of food on our health firsthand. After receiving her Bachelor of Science, she realized her true passion was for nutrition, wellness, and fitness and returned to school to become a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. Jill hopes to inspire others to improve their lives with nutrition and lifestyle changes & discover how great they can feel.

Skirt Steak in Red Wine Sauce

So this is the first week of the Nutritional Therapy Consultant program that I am taking through the Nutritional Therapy Association! I am eager to learn more about nutrition and real food so I can help people heal themselves with food. It’s going to be hard work going through the program while working full time but it’s totally worth it. Paleo changed my life so much and I can’t wait to start helping other people change their lives with paleo!…

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we’re starting to see boxes of chocolates and candy in stores all over. The upside of being single on Valentine’s Day is I don’t have to worry about someone buying me one of those crap filled “treats” while wishing they had gotten me paleo goodies. I don’t know about you, but I know I’d be ecstatic to receive some delicious paleo treats from my man on Valentine’s Day. So for those of you who…

Beef & Vegetable Stew

Beef stew is a traditional winter meal. It’s warm and comforting and simple. I added more vegetables and used sweet potato to make it hearty and healthy. This is perfect to make in the morning and come home without having to make a side dish since it’s already full of vegetables. It’s a convenient, one-pot meal. I like to make this when I need time in the evening to get other stuff done.   Easy- *** Fast- * (****) Spicy-…

Red Velvet Fudge

So Valentine’s Day is a month away and that means red velvet! I love red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I prefer to stay dairy-free most of the time so I wanted to make a paleo fudge to get my red velvet fix. This recipe features Youfreshnaturals Red Velvet Cashew Coconut Butter, which is a seasonal flavor. Grain-Free Strawberry Muffins

Blueberry muffins are pretty popular, but I’m pretty sure I’ve never actually seen a strawberry muffin before. I have always preferred strawberries to blueberries, so I thought why not make strawberry muffins instead of the traditional blueberry muffins? I love to have muffins for breakfast because they’re grab and go. The thought of having to cook breakfast in the morning is just daunting to me. I really don’t like to do anything until after I’ve had my coffee, and that…

Making any big change in your life can be overwhelming and seem scary. Change is an inevitable part of life. It’s better to embrace it than to try to hide from it. Technology, fashion, slang, and just about every part of life is constantly evolving and changing. It’s important that we learn to adapt to changes that are out of our control. Mini Turkey Meatballs

I ate so much for Christmas Eve and Christmas, and it was all not paleo. I, of course, felt so sick afterwards. My body is now craving super light, clean foods. I am also strongly considering doing the 21 day sugar detox starting on January 5th. I think my body could use a detox. Anyway, I made some turkey meatballs to recover from the holiday damage I did to my body. It’s been a few days since Christmas, but I’m…

Use a food processor to do your chopping for you and save on time. Easy- **** Fast- **** Spicy- no   Ingredients: 3-4 red potatoes, chopped 1/2 large yellow onion, chopped 4 garlic cloves,…

Kombucha: The Healthy Alternative to Soda

Kombucha is all the rage right now. It’s popping up in stores all over and being praised by the real food community. So, what is kombucha? Kombucha is a fermented tea, loaded with probiotics. The process of making kombucha starts with tea, sugar, and a SCOBY (a colony of bacteria that are able to reproduce). The mixture is then kept in a dark place at room temperature and ferments for a couple weeks. After the first fermentation it is optional…
